David domoney's biography

Biography

David Domoney is a Chartered Horticulturalist and British Plant Profiler, his lectures and books specialise in the characteristics and personalities of plants. Understanding how they adapt to overcome and survive & interact in a human landscape has resulted in two bestselling books, ‘Plants with Superpowers’ published by Francis Lincoln/Quarto, and ‘My Houseplant Changed My Life’ published by Dorling Kindersley/Penguin Random House. David is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, a Fellow of the London Colleges of Horticulture, a Fellow of the Warwickshire Colleges of Horticulture and a Fellow of the Linnean Society and is a former Governor of the London Colleges of Horticulture.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh Prince Edward selected David Domoney for the 2018 Excellence in Horticulture Award.  David has also won 34 Royal Horticultural Society Medals for his show gardens, plant displays and science exhibits. For his most recent exhibit exploring the mental and physical well-being humans gain from interacting with plants, David not only won the RHS Gold Medal but also the Best Science Exhibit at the 2021 Chelsea Flower Show. He writes a weekly article for two national British newspapers, The Daily Express and the Daily Mirror where he inspires over a million readers with the wonder of plants and nature.

Awards

With a collection of 30 Royal Horticultural Society medals to his name, including Best in Category and Chelsea Gold awards, David was selected by HRH Prince Edward to receive the Award for Excellence in Horticultural Career Development in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments.
