It’s back! My nationwide competition to find the best front gardens has launched in the Sunday People newspaper for the second year, and this time there are even more prizes!
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s campaign, for 2014 I have a grand total of £20,000 of National Garden Gift Vouchers up for grabs!
What’s the competition?
It’s simple! We’re looking for communities that have come together to create the nation’s best front gardens. Why, you ask? Because over 7 million gardens in the UK are made up entirely of concrete! Not a single plant in sight.
I want to change that. Inspired by the community pride and spirit that is evoked by Christmas decorations up and down the nation’s streets, last year I launched a campaign to recognise and reward those who care for their local environment. It struck a chord with so many people that I’ve brought it back for a second year – only this time it’s bigger and better!

What do I have to do?
All you need to enter is three or more consecutive houses that have joined forces to make your street a nicer, greener place to live.
The competition opens on 16 March and closes 31 August. So what are you waiting for? Grab a spade, get gardening with your neighbours and send us some snaps of the results!
Entry is completely free. Follow me on Twitter, and check out @CultivationSt for updates, offers and all the news from behind the scenes.
We’re also looking for schools to get involved! We have £2000 of National Garden Gift Vouchers for the school with the best garden created by children.
What are National Garden Gift Vouchers?
These vouchers are valid in most garden centres and will buy you any type of garden supplies you could possibly need. Not just plants but tools, barbeques, garden furniture and much more. In fact, everything you need to make your street the best place to live in the whole country!
